The Company
Opuha Water Ltd is a progressive infrastructure and irrigation Co-Operative company based in South Canterbury. They own and operate the Opuha Dam, Power Station, and associated irrigation distribution systems in the South Canterbury region. They have been part of the local community for over 20 years now and have delivered significant environmental and community benefits over this time. Opuha Water work with a very precious natural resource, fresh water, and as such we take their obligations incredibly seriously around its management. The Role
Based in Pleasant Point and reporting to the Chair and supported by a collaborative Board, we are seeking an experienced, future focussed leader who has a passion for driving growth, innovation and environmental leadership to spearhead Opuha Water in its next phase of growth.
Leading a team of 14, the role is responsible for implementing the vision of the Opuha Water Board through effective strategy development, stakeholder management and operational management, while managing and mitigating risks and meeting financial, operational and strategic targets.
The person
We are after a down-to-earth empowering leader who can utilise the teams full potential and is a first class communicator and ideally has experience building collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders in the local community including local iwi. We need someone who has a strategic mindset, understands asset management, can see the synergies and identify exciting future opportunities.
We are also after someone who has:
- A strong commercial acumen – this role will oversee the company's financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Can manage project managers and deliver to a clear plan
- Has a genuine empathy for the farming sector
- A strong negotiation skillset
